Brno's Jazz Scene

Abstract:

Brněnská jazzová scéna Autorka se ve své práci zaměřuje na dva celky odlišných historických epoch, na dobu před rokem 1989, a na současnost s akcentem na plodné období v letech 1999 – 2011, vážící se k dosud nezpracované brněnské jazzové scéně. Cílem je odlišný a citlivý přístup k oběma epochám, při čemž je v každé z nich úkolem pochopit jazzovou scénu v její komplexnosti a celistvosti, s ohledem na hudební, politické, kulturně sociální a ekonomické aspekty, které jsou dohromady svojí nedílnou součástí a vytvářejí tak v lepším případě fungující celek. Úmyslem autorky není pouze zpracování nashromážděných informací, ale i jejich analyzování a snaha o nalezení alternativních řešení v případě nefunkčností jednotlivých komponentů, vycházejících z aktivní praxe v oblasti hudební dramaturgie, produkce a propagace

Abstract:

Brno´s Jazz Scene This thesis presents an analysis of Brno´s Jazz Scene in two different historical epochs, namely, the pre-1989 period and the present. The latter is primarily focused on fruitful years 1999 – 2011 with the aim to analyse a period of Brno´s Jazz Scene which has not been investigated yet. The purpose of the thesis is to offer multiple sensitive approaches to both epochs and a deeper insight into the complexity of Brno´s Jazz Scene. Diverse phenomena such as musical, political, cultural, social and economical aspects each forming an integral part of the scene have the potential to create one well-functioning unit. The aim of the work can be seen not only in the description and presentation of a collected sum of information, but also in its analysis and a set of recommendations, based on the author´s work experience with the areas of music dramaturgy, production and promotion, that could serve as possible alterantives in cases of non-functioning components.
