The phenomenon of the second homes in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem chataření a chalupaření v České republice. Jejím cílem je porozumění a vysvětlení jeho rozvoje skrze vybrané faktory 19. a 20. století tohoto území. Práce je strukturovaná do pěti hlavních kapitol, přičemž první je věnována konceptu modernity a zejména jeho důsledkům v podobě urbanizace, ustanovení a prodlužování volného času a technologického rozvoje, které mají za následek mimo jiné i rozvoj cestování a rekreace. Další kapitola se soustředí přímo na historické kořeny chataření a chalupaření, které jsou do velké míry spojeny se sportovními hnutí a spolky v období na přelomu 19. a 20. století. Ty vedly k velkému zájmu o přírodu a aktivitami s ní spojených u široké vrstvy obyvatel a tím i položily základy k chataření a chalupaření. Následující kapitola se zabývá socialismem, který způsobil opouštění veřejné sféry a orientaci jedince na sféru soukromou, tím zvýšil důležitost rodiny a domova. Volný čas sloužil k formování socialistického způsobu života a zároveň bylo omezováno svobodné cestování. V průběhu 70. let 20. století došlo k porodnostnímu boomu, který vytvářel tlak na stávající bydlení, kterého bylo již i tak nedostatek. I díky nedostatečným možnostem v oblasti nabídky služeb a zboží se vlastnictví druhého bydlení stalo jedním ze způsobu demonstrace sociálního statusu a módní vlnou. Poslední dvě kapitoly se pak snaží hledat motiv k pořízení chat a chalup v potřebě přírody a zejména čistého životního prostředí a potřeby změny životního stylu. Autorka vidí rozvoj chataření a chalupaření právě v těchto několika vybraných faktorech. Neupřednostňuje a neoznačuje žádny z nich jako nejvíce důležitý v jejich rozvoji, jelikož stávající situaci a pozici druhých bydlení v Česku vidí v jejich kombinaci a načasování.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the phenomenon of the second houses and in the Czech Republic. Its target is understanding and explanation of its expansion through sampled factors of 19th and 20th century of this territory. The thesis consists of five main chapters. The first one follows the concept of modernity with its consequences in the field of urbanization, esthablishment and lengthening and of free-time and technological development. This led among others into the development of turism and recreation. Next chapter focuses on the historical roots of the second homes which are connected with sports movements and clubs at the turn of the 19th and 20th century. This led into the huge interest of nature and all activities connected with wildlife and also laid the foundation of the second homes. Following chapter concerns the concept of socialism which caused insignificance of the public sphere and orientation on the private sphere and emphasis on the role of family and home. Free-time addressed the socialistic way of life and travelling out of the state was restricted. During 1970s there appeared the birth-rate boom which made a big press on the housing and at the same time there was shortage of housing. Thanks to an inadequate possibilities of services and goods the second homes demonstrated the social status and became a way of expressing the fashion. The last two chapters are trying to find the motive for having a second home into the need of nature and clean environment and into the need of changing the lifestyle. The author of this thesis sees the development of the second homes in this several sampled factors. She do not prefers or marks any of them as the most important, because the current special situation of the second homes in the Czech republic lies is in their combination and timing.
