Anotácia:

Tato diplomová práce zkoumá vztah mezi cisgender a transgender sourozencem v románu Luna. Cílem práce je analyzovat proces od pomyslného uznání až po opravdové přijetí transgender identity. První část práce se zabývá vysvětlením potřebné terminologie, dále seznamuje čtenáře s kontextem literatury pro mladé dospělé (young adult) a jejím vlivem na čtenářovu identitu, zároveň se ohlíží za historií začlenění LGBTQ+ témat do tohoto žánru. Samotná analýza zkoumá překážky na cestě k akceptování transgender identity a zároveň nalezení vlastní identity cisgender sourozence.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the relationship between the cisgender and transgender sibling in the young adult novel Luna written by Julie Anne Peters. The aim of this thesis is to explore the journey from recognizing to accepting a transgender sibling. Apart from the analysis, it explains the terminology connected with the topic, it acquaints the reader with the background of young adult literature, its influence on reader’s identity and it discusses the inclusion of the LGBTQ+ topics into YAL. The analysis examines obstacles essential for understanding the journey towards acceptance and identity.
