University of the third age as positive influence to seniors quality of life

Abstract:

Anotace Diplomová práce "Univerzita třetího věku jako jeden z faktorů příznivě ovlivňující subjektivní vnímání kvality život u seniorů" pojednává o způsobu využití volného času seniorů k jejich vzdělávání a adaptaci na změny ve solečnosti.Prodlužování lidského života a delší doba, kdy jsou senioři schopni participovat na dění ve společnosti s sebou nese otázku, jestli možnost studia v pozdním věku jako jedna z aktivit přispívá ke kladnému hodnocení kvality života. Záměrem práce je ověřit předpoklad,že studium na Univerzitě třetího věku (U3V) je jedním z faktorů, které pozitivním způsobem ovlivňují kvalitu života seniorů v oblasti subjektivního pocitu vlastní kompetentnosti a plnohodnotného prožívání života. Podle posledních výzkumů (Baker at al 2005, Hřebíčková 2007)bylo zjištěno, že studium umožňuje seniorům zvýšení sociálních interakcí, a tím kladně ovlivňuje jejich subjektivní pocit vlastní užitečnosti a hodnoty. Budeme se zabývat shrnutím nových teoretických a empirických poznatků z procesu stárnutí s ohledem na sociální aspekty, hodnotovu orientaci a subjektivní vnímání kvality života seniorů. Na základě údajů zjištěných šetřením mezi seniory studujícími U3V MU Brno a srovnáním jejich odpovědí a názorů s těmi, kteří nestudují, se pokusíme najít odpověď na otázku, zda studium, resp. jeho některé aspekty, přiznivě ovlivňují subjektivní vnímání kvality života u seniorů. Výsledky práce by mohly ukázat cestu, která by mohla vést ke zvýšení pozitivního vlivu studia U3V na jednotlivé subjektivní aspekty kvality života seniorů.

Abstract:

Annotation The diploma thesis "The University of the third age as one of the factors which favourably influences subjective perception of the seniors´life" deals with the way how to use the senior´s free time to for their education and adaptation to the changes in society. The prolongation of human life and longer time, when seniors are able to participate in social events brings a question, whether the possibility to study in senior age as one of activities makes the evaluation of the life´s quality positive. The intention of the thesis is to proof the hypothesis that the study at the University of third age (U3V)is on of the factors, which positively influences the quality of the senior´s life in the sphere of subjective feelings of their own efficiency and full-valuable living. The latest researches (Baker at al.2005, Hřebíčková, 2007) show that the study enables seniors to increase their social interaction and it influence positively their subjective feelings of the quality of senior´s life. On the basis of the data from the search made among seniors from U3V MU Brno and comparing their answers and opinions with those who do not study, we´ll try to find the answer to the question, if the study (respectively some aspects of study) favourably influences the subjective perception of the quality of the senior´s life.The results of the work may show the way, which could the organizers of the study U3V increase the positive influence on the individual subjective aspects of the quality of the senior´s life.
