Populism as communication style

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce je koncipována jako jednopřípadová studie a konkrétně se věnuje analýze politické komunikace předsedy hnutí ANO 2011, Andreje Babiše. První část této práce se zabývá teoretickým vymezením populismu, přičemž hlavní pozornost je věnována chápání populismu jako diskurzivní teorie. Vymezení populismu jako diskurzu je teoretickým konceptem, který je v druhé části práce aplikován na politická vyjádření Andreje Babiše se zaměřením na znaky populismu, které se objevují v jeho předvolebních komunikaci, tedy na antagonistický vztah mezi lidem a elitou a na oslavu lidu a odsouzení elity. Cílem této diplomové práce je ověření teze, že Andrej Babiš ve své předvolební komunikaci využívá výše uvedené znaky populismu a naplňuje tak předpoklad, že má jeho předvolební komunikace populistické tendence. Závěrečná část se věnuje shrnutí dat získaných analýzou politické komunikace Andreje Babiše a ověřením teze stanovené v úvodu práce.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is a single case study and specifically deals with the analysis of the political communication of the leader of ANO 2011, Andrej Babis. The first part of this thesis deals with the theoretical definition of populism, the main attention is being paid to the understanding of populism as a discourse theory. The definition of populism as a discourse is the theoretical concept, which is applied in the second part of the diploma thesis, to the political expressions of Andrej Babis, focusing on the sign of populism that appeared in his pre-election communication, the anthagonistic relationship between people and the elite and the celebration of the people and condemnation of the elite. The aim of this diploma thesis is to verify the thesis, that Andrej Babis uses the above-mentioned signs of populism in his pre-election communication and thus fulfils the assumption that his communication has a populist tendency. The conclusion summarises the data obtained by analysis of political communication of Andrej Babis and is also committed to verify the thesis set out in the introduction.
