Bitcoin, Cryptocurrency and Blockchain - the world on the verge of the financial revolution

Abstract:

Předmětem diplomové práce je uvedení do problematiky a analýza kryptoměn, proto-kolu Bitcoin a technologie blockchain. Zabývá se jeho historií a důvodem vzniku, emisí (tzv. miningem), scalingem a koncepty jeho fungování. Zmiňuje také další kryptoměny fungující na více či méně podobných principech a zamýšlí se nad problematikou adopce kryptoměn širší veřejností. V praktické části se práce zaměřuje na porovnání investice do bitcoinu vůči akciovým trhům, zlatu a ropě. Součástí této části je také vytvoření in-teraktivní kalkulačky pomocí MS Excel, která umožní predikovat výnos z těžby kryp-toměn a kalkulace doby nutné k prolomení soukromého klíče metodou brute-force, který by umožnil útočníkovi získat přístup k cizímu účtu. Závěrem práce je zamyšlení, zda mohou kryptoměny v blízké budoucnosti proměnit nejen sektor bankovnictví, ale i celý měnový systém. Práce volně navazuje na moji bakalářskou práci na téma „Bitcoin jako měna budoucnosti?“.

Abstract:

The subject of the diploma thesis is the introduction into the problem and the analysis of cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin protocol, and blockchain technology. It focuses on its history and origin, mining (generation of bitcoins), scaling and concepts of operation. It also mentions other cryptocurrencies based on similar principles and deals with the issue of adoption by the wider public. In the second part, the thesis focuses on the comparison of investment into bitcoin, stock markets, gold, and oil. This part of the thesis introduces an interactive mining calculator which was created using MS Excel to predict the financial viability of bitcoin mining, and the calculation of the time needed to break the private key by the brute-force method, which would allow an attacker to gain access to someone else's funds. The final part of the thesis tries to conclude whether cryptocurrencies have a potential to transform not only the banking sector but also the entire monetary system. This diploma thesis is a continuation of my bachelor's thesis which also focused on bitcoin.
