Autobiography as usefull guide on paths of yoga and mysticism

Abstract:

First part of the thesis analyzes the text of Paměti mystika using approach of narrative analysis, with application of new information from narratologic reseach about subject, that text assembly is driven by its purpose, thus by motives of author writing the text. Using this analysis, I try to show that the text of Paměti mystika serves as a practical guide on path of spiritual self-recognition. This kind of guides were an important source of information dissemination within Czech modern spirituality influenced by the teachings of Paul Brunton related to personality of Edward Thomas, whose characteristic attributes I will try to trace in the second part of my thesis. I try to describe there the ways in which this type spirituality was spread among people, the ways in which people organize themself whin it and the value what spirituality mean to a man. I was able to identify these attributes thanks to information obtained bynarrative analysis of Paměti mystika.

Abstract:

V prvej časti bakalárskej práce rozoberám text Paměti mystika pomocou metódy naratívnej analýzy s využitím poznatkov nových naratologických bádaní pojednávajúcich o tom, že výstavba textu je podmienená jeho účelom, teda motívmi, s akými autor tento text písal. Pomocou tohto rozboru sa snažím ukázať, že text Paměti mystika slúži ako praktická príručka na ceste duchovného sebapoznania. Takéto príručky boli dôležitým zdrojom šírenia informácii v rámci modernej českej spirituality ovplyvnenej učením Paula Bruntona súvisiacej s osobou Eduarda Tomáša, ktorej charakteristické rysy sa budem snažiť vysledovať v druhej časti práce. V tej sa snažím popísať cesty, ktorými sa tento typ spirituality medzi ľuďmi šíril, spôsoby, akými sa v jeho rámci ľudia organizujú, ako aj zmysel, ktorý takáto spiritualita pre človeka má. Tieto charakteristiky som mohol určiť vďaka informáciám získaným prostredníctvom naratívnej analýze textu Paměti mystika.
