The parasynthetic formations in modern Spanish (1726-1904). The paradigmatic morphology and lexical motivation from the diachronic perspective.

Abstract:

The main aim of the thesis is to identify new parasynthetic forms coined in modern Spanish. The parasynthesis as the mechanism of the word formation, already from the synchronous point of view has caused some controversy related to the peculiarities that this mechanism presents itself. To these are added other more if we consider it from the diachronic perspective. Therefore, apart from the detection and identification of the parasynthetic neologisms, we propose a model for a coherent approach to the subject, both from synchrony and diachrony. We rely on the recent statements made within the paradigmatic morphology and the theory of lexical motivation, since both are built on the basis of analogy, a mechanism that it shows to be powerful and effective in the whole linguistic evolution. From these two theories we developed a model of paradigmatic organization of the lexicon. This model takes into account the influence of foreign languages together with the extra-linguistic factors and also presents the lexicon as a complex network of paradigms and relationships established within and between these paradigms based on analogies on the one hand, and the distinguishing features on the other. Therefore, we analyze the parasynthetic neologisms of modern Spanish in their corresponding paradigms [AX-AR], [EN-X-AR], [DES-X-AR], [DES-X-IZAR], [TRA(N)S-X-AR] and [EX-X-AR] defining them superparadigms with a prototypical semantic value. These superparadigms are updated through subparadigms, such as [a-X-ción], [a-X-miento] or [a-X-ado]. Our analysis shows that new voices can respond to mutual cooperation of three elementary relationships (motivations); the ever-present intralinguistic motivation can be stimulated or enhanced by cross-linguistic motivation and almost always accompanied by one of the adherent motivations.

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem práce je identifikovat nové parasyntetické formy vytvořené v moderní španělštině. Parasyntéza jako mechanismus tvoření slov vyvoláva již ze synchronního hlediska polemiku ohledně zvláštností, které tento mechanismus představuje. K nim se přidávají další, když vememe v úvahu také diachronní perspektivu. Proto, kromě detekce a identifikace parasyntetických neologismů, navrhujeme model za účelem koherentního přístupu v dané otázce, a to jak ze synchronního tak diachronního hlediska. Opíráme se o nedávné teorie formulované z pohledu paradigmatické morfologie a teorie lexikální motivace, protože oba přístupy jsou postaveny na analogii, jakožto mechanismu, který se prokázal silný a efektivní v průběhu jazykového vývoje. Na základě těchto dvou teorií jsme vyvinuli model paradigmatické organizace lexikonu. Tento model bere v úvahu vliv cizích jazyků spolu s mimojazykovými faktory, a zároveň také představuje lexikon jako komplexní síť paradigmat a vztahů vzniklých vevnitř a mezi těmito paradigmaty, a to na základě analogických vztahů na straně jedné, a distinktivních rysů na straně druhé. Proto analyzujeme parasyntetické neologizmy moderní španělštiny v jednotlivých paradigmatech: [A-X-AR], [EN-X-AR], [DES-X-AR], [DES-X-IZAR], [TRA(N)S-X-AR] a [EX-X-AR]. Zároveň je definujeme jako superparadigmy, které se vyznačují prototypickou sémantickou hodnotou. Tyto superparadigmy se v textu nebo kotextu aktualizují prostřednictvím subparadigmat, jako je například [a-X-ción], [a-X-miento] nebo [a-X-ado]. Naše analýza ukazuje, že nové hlasy mohou být výsledkem vzájemné spolupráce tří základních vztahů (motivací); všudypřítomna intralingvistická motivace, která může být stimulována nebo zvýšena interlingvistickou motivací, ale téměř vždy je doprovázena jednou z nadstavbových motivací.
