Welfare state, the history, role, criticism and vision

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tématem sociálního státu a jeho důležitou úlohou v moderní společnosti. Obsah práce je rozdělen do 14 kapitol. Po úvodu práce navazuje definicí pojmu sociálního státu, přiblížením jeho historie a uvedením typologického rozdělení. Dále se práce zabývá pojmem státu jako takovým, a pojednává o principech solidarity a redistribuce. Následně jsou rozebrána sociální rizika a navazuje kapitola o kritice sociálního státu, čímž je připraven prostor pro uvedení problémů sociálního státu a zkoumání jeho krize. Práce pokračuje zhodnocením krizové situace a pokusem o předpověď budoucí podoby sociálního státu. Zcela nakonec jsou uvedeny alternativní varianty a práce je zakončena závěrem, ve kterém jsou shrnuty dosavadní poznatky především o aktuálních problémech, krizi a budoucnosti sociálního státu.

Abstract:

This thesis is dealing with a topic of welfare state and its important role in modern society. Content of this work is divided into 14 chapters, of which the first one is an introduction. After introduction, there is a definition of the welfare state expression followed up by aiming on the history and typologic separation. Thesis will deal with the expression of the state itself and continue with zooming in on principles of solidarity and redistribution. There is a chapter focusing on social risks and the critics of the welfare state afterwards, which will set up the space for analysis of the welfare state problem and crisis. In the next step there will be an evaluation of the crisis and a prediction of a future of the welfare state. Alternatives of the welfare state are mentioned in the last chapter followed up by the conclusion, which summarizes the important facts mainly about actual problems, crisis and the future of the welfare state.
