The Turkic Theme in Russian Literature (Several Case Studies from the 11–19th Centuries)

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje turkickému tématu a vlivu na ruská literární díla. Turkické národy zanechaly nemalou stopu v ruských kulturních dějinách, a to nejen etnicky, ale i literárně. Jedním z cílů práce je zjistit, proč a jak se měnil postoj k Tatarům od dob Kyjevské Rusi, mongolsko-tatarského vpádu až do 20. století. Dále se práce soustřeďuje na analýzu vybraných případových studií ze staroruské literatury a na díla ruských spisovatelů 19. století – L. N. Tolstého, F. M. Dostojevského, V. I. Dala a N. S. Leskova. Na základě této analýzy je učiněn pokus zjistit, jaký význam mělo turkické téma v ruské literatuře.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the Turkic theme and its influence on Russian literary works. The Turkic nations left considerable traces in Russian cultural history, not only frrom the ethnic, but also from the literary points of view. One of the aims of the thesis is to find out why and how the attitude towards the Tatars has changed since the Kievan Rus, the Mongol-Tatar invasion until the 20th century. Furthermore, the work focuses on the analysis of selected case studies from Old Russian literature and works of Russian writers of the 19th century - L. N. Tolstoy, F. M. Dostoevsky, V. I. Dal and N. S. Leskov. Based on this analysis, it is trying to find out what significance the Turkic theme has in Russian literature.
