Coalition social games

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje problematice koaličních společenských her s nesymetrickou informací, konkrétně analýze zvolené karetní hry Bang!. Na jejím příkladu demonstruje princip převedení reálných herních situací, jednodušších do matematických modelů a složitějších do počítačových simulací, což umožnilo určit vybrané charakteristiky hry, jako jsou výherní šance jednotlivých koalic nebo celková vyváženost hry. K práci byla naprogramována počítačová aplikace, která umožnila softwarové simulace provádět a výsledky vyhodnocovat. Uvedený postup lze aplikovat (je volně přenositelný) i na jiné společenské hry nebo herní situace, ať již pro obdobný výzkum důležitých charakteristik jiné hry, či pro vývoj zcela nových her. Práce ukazuje způsob, jak s pomocí uvedených matematických postupů a počítačových simulací zohlednit celou škálu parametrů a analyzovat jejich postupně rostoucí vliv na výsledek, zde konkrétně na úspěšnost herních rolí a uživatelsky spravedlivou vyváženost hry.

Abstract:

This thesis describes the coalition social games with imperfect information, specifically the selected card game Bang!. Using it as an example, the principle of the transformation of real game situations is illustrated (the simple ones into mathematical models, the more complicated ones into computer simulations). That enables to determine the selected characteristic features of the game, e.g. winning-chances of the particular coalitions or the overall equilibrium of the game. For the purpose of this thesis, I have programmed a computer application (software) which enables to perform the computer simulations and evaluate the results. The illustrated method is transferable to other social games or game situations. The method is usable for a similar analysis of game characteristics of existing games or even for a creation of some new games. The methods of taking a wide range of parameters into consideration are presented in this thesis. One can analyse their rising effect on the results (namely on the winning-chances of particular coalitions and the fair equilibrium of the game), using the introduced mathematical techniques and computer simulations.
