Motivation of pupils for second foreign language selection at lower secondary schools

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na motivaci žáků při výběru druhého cizího jazyka na základních školách. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda u žáků 7.-9. tříd ZŠ převládá vnitřní či vnější motivace při výběru druhého cizího jazyka. První část se věnuje teorii motivace, druhá různým druhům motivace, třetí vztahu motivace a vzdělání a čtvrtá problematice druhého jazyka na ZŠ. Empirická část obsahuje kvalitativní výzkum a interpretaci dat získaných pomocí polostrukturovaných rozhovorů, na základě nichž jsou zodpovězeny výzkumné otázky a stanoveny výsledky, poukazující na převahu vnější motivace.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on pupils' motivation in choosing a second foreign language in primary schools. The aim of the thesis is to find out whether intrinsic or extrinsic motivation prevails in the choice of a second foreign language among students in grades seven to nine of primary school. The first part is devoted to the theory of motivation, the second to different types of motivation, the third to the relationship between motivation and education, and the fourth to the issue of second language in primary schools. The empirical part includes qualitative research and interpretation of data obtained through semi-structured interviews, on the basis of which the research questions are answered and the results are determined, showing the prevalence of external motivation.
