Volunteering as an environment for adult learning in the role of volunteers

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is a volunteering that besides selfless helping others, is also an environment of learning process. Adults in the role of volunteers perceive learning differently, that primary depends on the motives which have led them to volunteering. This key motivator is related to their perceptions of learning, whether in carrying out voluntary activities, or when using the offered learning, in forms of supervision, courses, trainings, lectures, workshops, etc. In conclusion the thesis is concerned about how the impact of different types of voluntary activities can affect the necessity of volunteers to learn.

Abstract:

Práca sa venuje dobrovoľníctvu, ktoré je okrem nezištnej pomoci druhým, tiež prostredím, v ktorom dochádza k procesom učenia. Dospelí v roli dobrovoľníkov vnímajú učenie rozdielne, čo vychádza primárne z motívu, ktorý ich k dobrovoľníctvu viedol. Tento rozhodujúci motív súvisí s ich vnímaním učenia, či už pri vykonávaní dobrovoľníckej činnosti alebo pri využívaní ponúkaného učenia vo formách supervízii, kurzov, školení, prednášok, workshopov a podobne. V závere sa práca venuje tomu, ako náročnosť rôznych druhov dobrovoľníckych činností môže ovplyvňovať potrebnosť učenia sa dobrovoľníkov.
