Investigation of the influence of external conditions on the properties of diffuse coplanar surface barrier discharge

Abstract:

Předložená disertační práce se věnuje studiu vlivu vnějších fyzikálních parametrů na chování koplanárního bariérového výboje a parametry plazmatu tohoto výboje. Jako studované parametry byly zvoleny: vzdálenost elektrod koplanárního bariérového výboje (tzv. mezielektrodová vzdálenost), velikost budícího napětí (příp. i jeho frekvence), teplota zemněné elektrody a absolutní vlhkost pracovního plynu. Výboj byl studován pomocí optické emisní spektroskopie - časově i prostorově rozlišené - a dále snímkováním výboje rychlou iCCD kamerou s časově korelovaným měřením elektrických parametrů výboje. Byly získány mapy časoprostorového vývoje emise druhého pozitivního systému dusíku (SPS) a prvního negativního systému dusíku a molekuly CN v průběhu celé periody výboje. Dále byly získány prostorové profily intenzit a rotační a vibrační teploty SPS v závislosti na vnějších fyzikálních parametrech (podmínkách buzení výboje). Byl sledován též vliv podmínek buzení na prostorové rozložení obrazce výboje. Pomocí korelovaných obrazových a elektrických měření byl též sledován vliv podmínek buzení výboje na statistické parametry mikrovýbojů. Prokázalo se, že na parametry koplanárního bariérového výboje mají vliv nejen amplituda budícího napětí, ale též teplota elektrod, či frekvence budícího napětí. Velikost filamentní části výboje a teploty filamentů, stanovené ze SPS, lze např. zásadně ovlivnit volbou mezielektrodové vzdálenosti. Na hustotu filamentů, resp. jejich pohyb, má pak vliv nejen amplituda budícího napětí, ale zásadně též přítomnost vodních par ve výbojové atmosféře. S rostoucí koncentrací vodních par můžeme pozorovat ustávání rychlého nahodilého pohybu mikrovýbojů a jejich "stabilizaci", či samo-uspořádání do husté, či řídké sítě filamentů (dle pracovního plynu) s velice pravidelným rozestupem. Prokázalo se též, že určité procento mikrovýbojů hoří podél stejných výbojových drah v~mezielektrodovém prostoru jak v průběhu dvou po sobě jdoucích půlperiod výboje, tak i v rámci téže půlperiody výboje.

Abstract:

In this PhD. thesis we study the influence of external physical parameters on the behavior of coplanar barrier discharge and its plasma parameters. As the studied parameters we selected: the electrode gap width, the amplitude of the excitation voltage (or even its frequency), the grounded electrode temperature and absolute humidity of working gas. We studied the discharge using: optical emission spectroscopy - time and space resolved; fast ICCD camera imaging with time-correlated measurements of electrical discharge parameters. We obtained maps of the space-time evolution of emission of second positive system of nitrogen (SPS), first negative system of nitrogen and CN during whole discharge period. Furthermore we obtained spatial profiles of intensity and rotational and vibrational temperature of SPS depending on external physical parameters (discharge conditions). We also studied the influence of discharge conditions on the spatial distribution of discharge pattern. And using time-correlated imaging and electrical measurements we investigated the effect of discharge conditions on statistical parameters of microdischarges. It has been shown that the parameters of the coplanar barrier discharge are influenced not only by the amplitude of the excitation voltage, but also by the electrode temperature, or frequency of the excitation voltage. The size of filamentary part of discharge and temperature of filaments (from SPS) can be dramatically influenced, e.g. by the electrode gap width. The density of filaments, resp. their movement, is influenced not only by the amplitude of the excitation voltage, but also by the presence of water vapor in the discharge atmosphere. The rapid random motion of microdischarges ceases with increasing concentration of water vapor in the discharge atmosphere and stabilization or self-organization in dense or sparse network of filaments (according to the working gas) with very regular spacing occurs. It has been shown also that a certain percentage of microdischarges burns along the same pathways in the electrode gap space during two consecutive discharge half-cycles, and even within the same half-cycle.
