Volunteer work with teenagers

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá prací dobrovolníky s teenagery. Práce obsahuje dva hlavní cíle. Prvním této cílem práce je zjistit, co vede dobrovolníky k práci s teenagery. Druhým cílem práce je zjistit, jak dobrovolníci s teenagery pracují. Předkládaná práce je rozdělena na dvě hlavní částí- teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část uvádí čtenáře do fenoménu dobrovolnictví, kde se čtenář může seznámit se základními typy a motivy dobrovolnictví a také je zde stručně charakterizováno dobrovolnictví v České republice. Dále se teoretická část zabývá prací s dobrovolníky. Tato kapitola slouží k náhledu do spolupráce organizací s dobrovolníky, jejich náborem a hodnocením. Velice důležitou kapitolou je, vzhledem k zaměření diplomové práce, zájmové vzdělávání ve školském rezortu, které popisuje nejdůležitější organizace zabývající se zájmovém vzdělávání v této oblasti. Poslední kapitola této části se zabývá prací s teenagery, jako specifické věkové skupiny. Na základě výzkumu jsem došla k závěru, že dobrovolníky jejich práce s teenagery baví. Díky této práci si saturují své osobní potřeby, navazují pevná a často celoživotní přátelství a díky energii, který z teenagerů vychází se cítí dobře. Práce s teenagery samozřejmě nepřináší jen tyto pozitiva, objevují se zde i rizika spojená s jejich věkem. Přesto, že si dobrovolníci uvědomují, že je práce s teenagery náročná a někdy velice riskantní, vyhledávají jejich přítomnost a upřednostňují práci s nimi před prací s jinými věkovými skupinami. Dále jsem ve svém výzkumu zjistila, že dobrovolníci pracují s teenagery na základě neformální autority, která je podložena přátelským vztahem a oboustrannou důvěrou, která je ve spolupráci mezi dobrovolníky a teenagery stěžejní. Inspiraci čerpají dobrovolníci nejčastěji ze svých vlastních zkušeností a ze zkušeností ostatních, se kterými si vzájemně postřehy a nápady vyměňují. I přesto, že dobrovolníci pracují bez nároku na mzdu, obětují dobrovolnictví většinu svého volného času a často si musí brát na akce i dovolenou, je pro ně dobrovolnictví prioritou a to co jim dobrovolnictví přináší, jim kompenzuje všechna ostatní úskalí této práce.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the work of volunteers with teenagers. The work contains two main objectives. The first objective of this work is to find out what volunteers are doing to work with teenagers. The second objective is to find out how volunteers work with teenagers. This thesis is divided into two main parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part introduces the reader to the phenomenon of volunteering, where the reader can get acquainted with the basic types and motives of volunteering and also briefly characterizes volunteering in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the theoretical part deals with work with volunteers. This chapter provides into the cooperation of volunteer organizations, their recruitment and evaluation. A very important chapter is, given the focus of the diploma thesis, interest education in the school sector, which describes the most important organizations involved in the area of ​​interest education in this area. The last chapter of this section deals with work with teenagers as specific age groups. Based on research, I came to the conclusion that volunteers enjoy their teenagers' work. Through volunteering they saturate their personal needs, establish strong and often lifelong friendships, and thanks to the energy that the teenagers come out of, they feel good. Working with teenagers, of course, does not only bring these benefits, but there are also risks associated with their age. Despite the fact that volunteers are aware that work with teenagers is demanding and sometimes very risky, they look for their presence and prefer to work with them before working with other age groups. I also found in my research that volunteers work with teenagers on the basis of informal authority, which is based on a friendly relationship and mutual trust, which is crucial in cooperation between volunteers and teenagers. Inspiration draws volunteers most often from their own experience and from the experience of others with whom they exchange their insights and ideas. Even though volunteers work without wages, they volunteer most of their free time and often have to take action and leave, volunteering is a priority, and what volunteering brings to them compensates all the other pitfalls of this work.
