The feminist fourth wave

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zjistit, zdali je čtvrtá vlna feminismu novou vlnou, s novými tématy a přístupy, nebo se otevírají témata starších vln. Analýza čtvrté vlny feminismu byla na základě čtyř hlavních událostí, a to SlutWalk, Free The Nipple, Women's march a #MeToo, kde všechny započaly a zorganizovaly se skrze sociální sítě a přerostly ve veřejné demonstrace. Analyzuji texty akademické i novinářské. Výsledkem je názor, že čtvrtá vlna otevírá témata předešlých vln (rozhodování za vlastní tělo, sexuální obtěžování, sexuální násilí, znásilnění), ale je zde nový faktor - internet (zvláště sociální sítě), který slouží jako nástroj pro rychlejší kolování informací a celkovou osvětu.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out if the new fourth wave of feminism is a new wave, with new methods and topics or is it a wave which includes or reuse topics of the old waves. The analysis of the fourth wave is based on four main events or protest, that are SlutWalk, Free the Nipple, Women's march and #MeToo. All of these named occasions started on the internet (on social media) but they spread out to the real world. The analysis is based on academic and journalistic texts. The result is that the fourth wave of feminism opens topics from the last wave (such as freedom of decision making for own body, sexual harassment and sexual violence and rape culture), but within a new factor - internet (especially social networks), which serve as a tool for faster information flow and general education.
