The Influence of the Financial Crisis on the Unitrust Funds in SLSP

Abstract:

Valorization of available financial assests is a hot topic for every investor. The objective is to avoid depreciation of investor's capital. Collective investment schemes are one of alternatives which can not only preserve the investment's value, but even promise to acquire further financial profits. Even for small individual investors, investment funds offer a wide range of possibilities for participation in growing capital markets. Public financial institutions governing local share funds bring these opportunities to private Slovak investors, too. Also during the financial crisis, there's a variety of collective investement schemes with diverse focus of activities which afford various investment opportunities. Knowing the basic investment principles and subtle differencies between different sorts of publicly available share funds is a basic prerequisite of every individual investor enabling him to make meaningful desicions about allocation of his/her financial assets. This diploma thesis aims to explain collective investment schemes' fundamentals to such an extent that the reader, a potential individual investor, will be able to make purposefull judgements about his investments into these tools of financial market. After all, the individual investor will always be liable for taken decisions.

Abstract:

Zhodnotenie voľných finančných prostriedkov je a bude vždy aktuálnou témou pre každého investora. Cieľom je zabrániť znehodnoteniu svojho majetku. Kolektívne investovanie je jednou z alternatív, ktorá prináša možnosť získať viac ako len zachovanie hodnoty investície. Ponúka širokú škálu možností participovať na raste, ktorý ponúkajú kapitálové trhy aj pre investorov s relatívne nízkym objemom voľných zdrojov. Takéto možnosti sú prístupné prostredníctvom podielových fondov subjektov pôsobiacich na našom trhu. Rôzne typy fondov, ktoré majú rôznorodé zameranie prinášajú investičné príležitosti aj v čase finančnej krízy. Aby však klient – investor mohol rozhodnúť o alokácii svojich prostriedkov mal by do určitej miery poznať špecifiká a fungovanie investovania do podielových fondov. Rozhodujúcim momentom je potom poznanie finančných a investičných cieľov konkrétneho investora a jeho vlastné očakávania. Ambíciou tejto práce je uvedenie potenciálneho investora do problematiky kolektívneho investovania do takej miery, aby bol schopný rozhodnúť o alokácii svojej investície. Zodpovednosť za toto rozhodnutie nesie totiž vždy práve on.
