Personality correlates of women orgasm

Abstract:

Uvedení: Práce se věnuje ženskému orgasmu a vztahy mezi orgasmem a sexuálním životem na straně jedné a osobnostními rysy na straně druhé. Cílem bylo pomocí stanovených hypotéz zjistit vybrané vztahy. Pro stanovení hypotéz jsem vycházela z již realizovaných výzkumů. Teoretická část práce tvoří základ a rámec pro výzkumnou část. Metody: Na základě příležitostního výběru jsem získala vzorek 607 respondentek (N=607) ve věku 16-61 let, průměrný věk činí 27,87 let a SD= 7,9. Pro zpracování jsem využila statistických metod: deskripce, korelace a faktorové analýzy. K měření osobnostních rysů jsem využila dotazník NEO-FFI. Jako podklad pro vybrané aspekty orgasmu a sexuálního vztahu jsem sestavila dotazník, který byl respondentkám předložen v elektronické formě. Závěr: Výsledky mé práce potvrdily předchozí výzkumy, jež deklarují vztah mezi osobnostními rysy měřenými na základě modelu Big Five na straně jedné a ženským orgasmem a jednotlivými aspekty sexuálního života na straně druhé. Nalezla jsem tam negativní vztah mezi schopností prožívat vaginální orgasmus a mírou neuroticismu (0,31, p<0,05). Potvrdila jsem předchozí výzkumy a konstatuji, že existuje souvislost mezi možností prožívat vaginální orgasmus a spokojeností v sexuálním životem (0,23, p<0,05). Nalezla jsem korelaci mezi mírou otevřenosti vůči zkušenosti a schopností prožívat vaginální orgasmus (0,15, p<0,05). Stejně tak jsem potvrdila svoji hypotézu o pozitivním vztahu mezi mezi mírou extraverze a uplatněním kreativity v sexuálním životě (0,27, p<0,05). Na základě faktorové analýzy na položkách použitého dotazníku jsem vytvořila tři subškály dotazníku, vysvětlující a popisující ženský orgasmus a sexuální vztah. Jedná se o tyto faktory: Postoj k sexu, Prožívání orgasmu, Adaptace v sexuálním vztahu. Všechny tyto faktory vykázaly negativní korelaci s mírou neuroticismu (r=-0,15-0,24, p<0,05) a naopak pozitivní korelaci s mírou extraverze(r=0,12-0,21, p<0,05). Na základě mého výzkumu právě tyto dvě dimenze (neuroticismus, extraverze) modelu Big Five vykazují nejvyšší souvislost s možnostmi prožívání orgasmu, sexualitou a sexuálním životem. Abstract:

Introduction: The present thesis deals with female orgasm and the relations between orgasm and sex life on the one hand and personality traits on the other. The aim was to establish selected relations by means of predefined hypotheses. In order to establish the hypotheses, I drew on previous research. The theoretical part of the thesis provides the groundwork and framework for the empirical part. Methods: Proceeding from random selection, I obtained a sample of 607 women respondents (N = 607) aged 16 to 61 years, the average age being 27.87 years and standard deviation (SD) = 7.9. The sample was processed using statistical methods: description, correlation and factor analysis. To measure personality traits, I used the NEO-FFI questionnaire. To provide a foundation for selected aspects of orgasm and sexual relationship, I compiled a questionnaire, which was submitted to the respondents in electronic form. Conclusion: The outcome of my investigation confirmed the results of previous research suggesting a relation between personality traits – measured using the Big Five model (also known as the “Big Five” factors) – and female orgasm and other aspects of sex life. I found a negative relation between the ability to experience vaginal orgasm and the level of neuroticism (0.31; p < 0.05). The thesis confirmed previous research and it may be stated that there is a correlation between the possibility to experience vaginal orgasm and satisfaction in sex life (0.23; p < 0.05). I found a correlation between the level of openness and the ability to experience vaginal orgasm (0.15; p < 0.05). I also confirmed my hypothesis regarding a positive relation between the level of extraversion and the use of creativity in sex life (0.27; p < 0.05). Following from a factor analysis of the items of the used questionnaire, I formed three subscales of the questionnaire explaining and describing female orgasm and a sexual relationship: Approach towards Sex, Experiencing of Orgasm, and Adaptation in a Sexual Relationship. All these factors demonstrated a negative correlation with the level of neuroticism (r = -0.15-0.24; p < 0.05) and a positive correlation with the level of extraversion (r = 0.12-0.21; p < 0.05). Proceeding from my research, these two factors (neuroticism and extraversion) of the Big Five model demonstrate the highest correlation with the possibilities of experiencing orgasm, sexuality and sex life.
