Attentiveness to the World. Literary Field on the Backdrop of Identity of the Czech Literature and Engaged Approaches after 1989

Abstract:

V této disertační práci se zabýváme dvěma komplementárně spojenými tématy - jsou to témata postavení a funkce české literatury ve společnosti po roce 1989 a znovuotevření diskuzí o angažovanosti v literatuře po roce 2000. Disertační práce je záměrně rozdělena do dvou stejně rozsáhlých částí. Teoretická část je kvůli tématu naší práce mnohovrstevnatá a zabývá se a následně spojuje několik problematik: 1) má jednak představit genezi, následný vývoj a tvůrčí filozofické i literární střety konceptů autonomie a heteronomie, neboť takovýto přehled ještě nebyl v literárněvědném prostoru učiněn; 2) představuje teorii tzv. literárního pole Pierra Bourdieuho; 3) rozšiřuje Bourdieuho literární pole o podněty ze strukturalismu, Herberta Marcuse, Waltera Benjamina a Theodora Adorna. Druhá část disertační práce se věnuje literárněhistorickému mapování jednak postavení, funkcí a následné krize identity české literatury po roce 1989, jednak na toto téma komplementárně navazují diskuze o angažovanosti, které započaly kolem roku 2007, a také rozbor oné "nové" angažované poezie. Metodologicky je práce založena na onom teoretickém podloží, které jsme si stanovili na základě střetů autonomie a heteronomie a také na konceptu literárního pole rozšířeného o výše zmíněné koncepty ? tímto prizmatem pak zkoumáme vývoj a kodifikování literárního pole české literatury po roce 1989, které s sebou přináší několik závažných témat, které spolu navzájem souvisí a navzájem se podmiňují. Jde především o všeobecně vnímaný "solipsismus" české literatury, ze kterého vyplývají závažné důsledky: apolitizace a asociální tendence literatury, krize nejenom literární kritiky a poezie, ale také krize samotné identity literatury ve společnosti, která je ovlivňována postmodernismem jako kulturní logikou pozdního kapitalismu. Z těchto všeobecných krizí a krize identity a solipsistického odloučení české literatury vzniká znovuotevření tématu angažovanosti, jež je ovšem silně ovlivněno jednak postkomunistickou postmoderní situací, jednak vývojem literárního pole devadesátých let. Naše optika zdůvodňuje nejenom nové snahy o znovuvytvoření diskuzí o angažovanosti v literatuře, ale také popisuje logiku vývoje české literárního pole na pozadí konceptů autonomie a heteronomie.

Abstract:

In this dissertation thesis, two complementary and related topics are dealt with - it is a topic of the status and function of the Czech literature in the post-1989 society and re-opening of a discussion about engaged literature after 2000. The dissertation thesis is composed of two equal parts as far as their scope is concerned. The theoretical part is multi-level due to the topic of the thesis. It focuses on and consequently connects several problems: 1) it should present the genesis, further development, creative and philosophical conflicts of the concepts of autonomy and heteronomy because such overview has not yet been given in the literary context; 2) it presents the theory of the so-called literary fields by Pierre Bourdieu; 3) extends Bourdieu's literary fields by insights from structuralism, Herbert Marcus, Walter Benjamin, and Theodor Adorno. The second part of the dissertation thesis deals with literary-history mapping of the status, function and consequently of the crisis of the identity of the Czech literature after the year 1989. This topic is followed by discussions about engaged literature, which started around 2007 and also analysis of this "new" kind of engaged poetry. Methodologically this work is based on the foundations given by the conflicts of autonomy and heteronomy and on the basis of the concept of the literary field extended by the above mentioned concepts. From this perspective the development and codification of the literary field of the Czech literature after 1989, which brings several important topics that are inter-related and inter-dependent, are researched. Most of all, it is the generally perceived "solipsism" of the Czech literature that has serious implications: apolitisation and asocial tendencies of literature, crises of not only the literary critique and poetry but also crises of the identity of literature itself in the society, which are influenced by postmodernism, a cultural logic of post-capitalism. From the general crises, from the crisis of identity and solipsist detachment of the Czech literature arises the reopened topic of engaged literature, which is strongly influenced by the postcommunist and postmodern situation in the first place but also by development of the literary field of the 1990's. This approach reasons not only the new struggles for reopening discussions of engaged literature but also describes the logics of development of the Czech literary field on the backdrop of the concepts of heteronomy and autonomy.
