Mathematical models in biometry of human fingerprints

Abstract:

V této diplomové práci se věnujeme popisu různých matematických metod, které se používají k úpravě obrazu. Jedná se především o metody zpracování histogramu, které upravují kontrast v obrazu, techniky prostorového filtrování a filtrování ve frekvenční doméně. Tyto techniky se zabývají především vyhlazováním a zostřováním obrazu. Algoritmy jednotlivých popsaných technik programujeme v programu R a následně je aplikujeme na snímky otisků prstů, přičemž sledujeme, jak se při jednotlivých technikách obraz mění. Zároveň sledujeme, zda některá z technik významně zlepšuje viditelnost jednotlivých linií v obrazu.

Abstract:

In this thesis we study various mathematical methods, which are used for image processing. In particular, the methods are histogram processing, which modify contrast in image, techniques of space filtering and filtering in frequency domain. These methods deal with image smoothing and sharpening. We program the algorithms of studied techniques in the programme R. Consequently, we apply these algorithms to the images of footprints and study how do they change the input image. At the same time, we study if some of the techniques improve significantly the visibility of individual lines in the image.
