Behom vývoja softvéru sa často stáva, že sú do neho neúmyselne zavedené chyby meniace správanie programu. Za účelom hľadania chýb sa obvykle implementujú testy, ktoré ale väčšinou nie sú schopné pokryť všetky možné prípady. Najmä v situáciách, kedy systém interaguje s prostredím.
