Carpathian Ruthenia in the eye of anthropology

Abstract:

Presented bachelor thesis is focused on the description of ethnic composition of Carpathian Ruthenia. It is primarily based on the research and expeditions of the anthropologist Vojtěch Suk. In this thesis we map and observe the everyday life of the local people over the last two centuries. Moreover, this thesis describes their ethnic origin and environment, their inter-ethnic interactions, their own livelihoods, and the activities with which they have occasionally made their difficult life more enjoyable. Part of the work is a photographic attachment of the photographs of Vojtěch Suk from his expeditions to Carpathian Ruthenia, which captures individual ethnicities, landscapes and culture of the inhabitants of this region.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na popis etnického složení obyvatel Podkarpatské Rusi. Primárně vychází z výzkumů a výprav antropologa Vojtěcha Suka. V práci je zmapován a zachycen každodenní život zdejších lidí za přibližně poslední dvě století. Přibližuje jejich etnický původ a prostředí, vzájemné interakce mezi jednotlivými etniky, zajišťování vlastního živobytí i činnosti, kterými si zpříjemňovali svůj nelehký život. Součástí práce je fotografická příloha snímků Vojtěcha Suka z jeho výprav na Podkarpatskou Rus, která zachycuje jednotlivá etnika, krajinu a kulturu obyvatel tohoto regionu.
