Reflection and Analyses of Austrian Conceptional Artist Martin Arnold

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se zaměříme na tvorbu rakouského postprodukčního konceptuálního umělce Martina Arnolda. Cílem bakalářské práce je seznámit čtenáře s tvorbou Martina Arnolda, jakým prostřednictvím své snímky vytváří a co je jeho záměrem. Dále pak objektivně shrnout a analyzovat vývoj jeho tvorby za posledních třicet let. Důležité je objasnit i termíny, se kterými budeme v práci pracovat, jako je experimentální film, postrpodukce a video art. V práci se budu odkazovat na rozhovor Martina Arnodla s francouzskou filmovou teoretičkou Emanuelle André, který byl poskytnut pro Mousse Magazine, dále pak na publikaci Gross Anatomies Martina Arnolda, dále potom Martin Arnold: Deanimated od autorů Geralda Matta a Thomase Miessganga, Nová filmová historie. Antologie současného myšlení o dějinách kinematografie a audiovizuální kultury od Petra Sczepanika a odborné texty a rozhovory Martina Arnolda, které poskytl Martinovi Mazancovi v rámci přehlídky PAF Olomouc.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis focuses on the work of the Austrian post-production conceptual artist Martin Arnold. The aim of this work is to acquaint readers with the Martin Arnold’s work, who through his films represents his intention. Further, to objectively reduce and analyze his work in the last thirty years. It is important to clarify the terms that are essential for defining his, such as experimental film, post-production and video art. I will refer to Martin Arnodl’s interview with the French film theory Emanuelle André, which they done for the Mousse Magazine, as well as Martin Arnold's Gross Anatomies, Martin Arnold: Deanimated by Gerald Matt and Thomas Miessgang, New Film History - The Anthology of Contemporary Thinking about the History of Cinematography and Audiovisual Culture by Petr Sczepanik and texts and interviews by Martin Mazanec, who is a head of a PAF Olomouc and a friend of the artist.
