Stereotypes and opinions of police officers in connection with homelessness in the territory of the capital city of Prague

Abstract:

Cílem práce je zjistit, jak policisté zařazeni ve výkonu služby na území hl. m. Prahy, neboli osoby pracující s bezdomovci v rámci protiprávních jednání, vnímají problematiku bezdomovectví. Diplomová práce má tendenci dále zjistit, v čem právě policisté vidí příčinu bezdomovectví, zda poskytují ochotně pomoc bezdomovcům v rámci své služby a dále zjistit, jaké předsudky, mohou ovlivňovat v rámci výkonu práce policistů s bezdomovci. Diplomová práce je rozdělena do dvou částí. V teoretické části se práce snaží objasnit základní pojmy bezdomovectví, od historie, možných příčin vzniku, vlastních definic až po formy bezdomovectví. V druhé, tj. praktické části práce, je aplikován výzkum policistů v souvislosti s výkonem práce s bezdomoveckou populací. Součástí práce je dotazníkové šetření, kde jsou prostřednictvím vybraných otázek, týkajících se jejich práce a zkušeností s bezdomoveckou populací, dotazování policisté služebně zařazeni v Praze II. Závěrem práce je vyhodnocení dotazníkového šetření a odpověď na cíle dané zadáním diplomové práce.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to find out how police officers on active duty in the territory of the Capital City of Prague and persons working with homeless people within the frame of dealing with illegal activities perceive the issue of homelessness. The thesis also focuses on determining what policemen specifically understand to be the cause of homelessness, whether or not they willingly help the homeless within the scope of their service, and finding out what prejudices potentially influence the work of policemen with homeless people. The diploma thesis is divided into two parts. In the theoretical part, the thesis tries to clarify the basic concepts of homelessness, from history, possible causes of origin, own definitions to forms of homelessness. In the second, i.e. the practical part of the work, research of police officers is applied in connection with the work with the homeless population. Part of the work is a questionnaire survey, where, through selected questions concerning their work and experience with the homeless population, police officers on duty in Prague II are interviewed. The conclusion of the thesis is a evaluation of the questionnaire survey and an answer to the underlying objectives stipulated by the thesis.
