Nursing Care of a Patient with Alzheimer's Disease

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce na téma Ošetřovatelská péče o pacienty s Alzheimerovou chorobou je zaměřena na problematiku ošetřovatelství osob postižených Alzheimerovou chorobou. V první části, části teoretické, se zaměříme na fyziologické fakta, která jsou doposud o Alzheimerově chorobě zjištěna. Zjistíme, co se děje v lidském mozku, který je postižen Alzheimerovou chorobou a řekneme si jaké jsou příznaky nemoci. Zaměříme se také na možnosti léčby, které jsou aktuálně k dispozici a primárně se budeme zabývat ošetřovatelskou péčí o pacienty postižené Alzheimerovou chorobou. Vzhledem k různorodosti požadavků pacientů na péči si uvedeme několik nejčastějších chyb, které nastávají při péči o pacienty. Porovnáme si ošetřovatelskou péči v domácím prostředí i v institučním prostředí. Zjistíme, jaké jsou mezi domácí a instituční péčí hlavní rozdíly a navážeme tím na druhou část této bakalářské práce a tou je část praktická. V druhé části práce se zaměříme na dva konkrétní pacienty postižené Alzheimerovou chorobou. Prvním pacientem je žena ve věku 73 let, která je umístěna v institučním zařízení, aby o ni bylo profesionálně pečováno. Druhým pacientem je také žena ve věku 76 let, která je v domácí péči své nejbližší rodiny, která se rozhodla se o pacientku starat sama. Informace k praktické části jsou získány pozorováním pacientek a pomocí informací získaných podle modelu M. Gordonové o fyzickém i psychickém stavu pacientek. Popíšeme si tedy tyto dva konkrétní případy, zaměříme se na psychický i fyzický stav pacientů a uvedeme příklady kladných a záporných bodů v obou typech ošetřovatelské péče.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis with the name ` Nursing care of patient with Alzheimer's disease` is concentrated on a problematics of nursing care for people with Alzheimer's disease. In the first part of this thesis, the theoretical part, we will focus on physiology facts that are so far known about the Alzheimer's disease. We will take a look at things that are happening in human's brain that is compromised with Alzheimer's disease and we will talk about the symptoms of the disease. We will focus also on the optional treatments that are available at this moment and the main focus will be on the nursing care of patient with Alzheimer's disease. Due to the variability of patitent's needs we will talk about a few most common mistakes which are happening while taking care of a patient. We will do a comparison of home and institutional nursing of people with Alzheimer's disease and see the main differences between these two options and that will bring us to the second part of this thesis. In the practical part of this thesis we will focus on two concrete patients with Alzheimer's disease. First patient is a woman at the age of 73 years old, who is situated in an institutional facility so she has all the professional care she needs. The other patient is also a woman at the age of 76 years old who is in a home care, her family decided to take care of her themselves. Information for the practical part of this thesis was acquired by observation of both of the patients and by the M. Gordon model of gathering information about the patients physical and mental state. Therefore we will describe these two patients, we will concentrate on their physical and mental state and we will point out the positive and also negative points of nursing care at home environment as well as at institutional environment.
