Possibilities of improving the health status of Roma children through social work

Abstract:

Tématem této bakalářské práce je problematika romské menšiny a s ní spojené zdravotní problémy. V řešení těchto problémů je romské populaci nápomocná terénní sociální práce. Práce je rozdělena do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola popisuje situaci Romů v České republice. Jejich problémy zahrnují nevyhovující bytové podmínky a sociálně vyloučené lokality, v nichž Romové bydlí. Dále práce obsahuje popis úrovně vzdělání romského obyvatelstva a na ni navazující nezaměstnanost a zadluženost a také zdravotní stav příslušníků romské komunity. V další částí bakalářské práce je popsána sociální práce a přístupy vhodné pro práci s Romy. Třetí kapitola se věnuje zdraví a jeho prevenci obecně. Poslední čtvrtá kapitola zahrnuje několik možností, jak pracovat s romskou komunitou. Tyto možnosti jsou popsány prostřednictvím organizací, které se zabývají problematikou Romů v sociálně vyloučených lokalitách a jejich potřebami.

Abstract:

The topic of this bachelor thesis is the Roma minority issue and related specific health problems. An outreach social work is helpful in solving these problems within the Roma population. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter describes the situation of the Roma in the Czech Republic. Their problems include unsatisfactory housing conditions and socially excluded localities where the Roma live. Furthermore, the thesis describes education level of the Roma population and follow-up unemployment and indebtedness and also health condition of the members of the community. The following part of the thesis characterizes social work and approaches suitable for the work with the Roma. The third chapter focuses on health issues and its prevention generally. The last fourth chapter describes a few options how to work with the Roma community. These possibilities are described through organizations dealing with Roma issue in the socially excluded localities and their needs.
