Reward based crowdfunding in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá crowdfundingem na bázi odměn a jeho využitím pro financování různých typů projektů. Teoretická část shrnuje současné znalosti o crowdfundingu. Jedná se především o popis principů fungování crowdfundingu, důvody a historii jeho vzniku a popis motivace pro využití crowdfundingu. Poslední oddíl teoretické části se zaměřuje na crowdfunding v prostředí České republiky. Praktická část bakalářské práce obsahuje vlastní empirický výzkum prováděný na vzorku 427 projektů uskutečněných na české crowdfundingové platformě HitHit. Tento výzkum přináší co možná nejširší pohled na specifika crowdfundingu v prostředí České republiky a definuje, které faktory a jak ovlivňují úspěšnost crowdfundingových kampaní. Výsledky například ukazují, že průměrná úspěšnost projektů byla 43,5%, úspěšné projekty překročí požadovanou částku jen o malou část a neúspěšné projekty obdrží jen malou část z požadované částky, že přítomnost úvodního videa zvyšuje šanci na úspěch projektu o 73%. Závěr bakalářské práce obsahuje srovnání získaných výsledků s teoretickými předpoklady a z toho vyplývající opodstatnění splnění cíle Poslední část se zaměřuje na omezení této práce, možnostmi jejich nápravy a rozšířeními provedeného výzkumu.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis covers the issue of reward based crowdfunding and its use for financing different types of projects. Theoretical part sums up a current knowledge about crowdfunding. It is primarily description of principles of crowdfunding, reasons and history of its origin and description of motivation for using crowdfunding. The last section of theoretical part focuses on crowdfunding in the Czech Republic. Practical part of this bachelor thesis includes own empirical research carried on a sample of 427 project realized on Czech crowdfunding platform HitHit. This research provides the widest possible look on Czech crowdfunding specifics and defines which factors and how affects levels of success of crowdfunding campaigns. For example, the results show that mean level of success within all projects is 43,5% and that successful projects exceeds goal only by small margins and unsuccessful projects tends to fail by big margins. Also that, presence of introduction video increases the chance of success by 73%. The last part of this thesis contains a comparison of achieved results with theoretical premises and the resulting explanation of targets. Finally, limits of this thesis and possibilities of corrective actions with future extensions of this article are presented.
