Car taxation: environmental elements of taxation and environmental impacts of different types of vehicles

Abstract:

Cílem diplomové práce je zjištění a ocenění environmentálních stop různých typů vozidel a komparace jejich zdanění. První část práce se nejprve zabývá charakteristikou ekologických daní, jejich klasifikací, evropskou legislativou v oblasti dopravy a zdaněním motorových vozidel. Druhá část práce se věnuje zdanění vozidel v zemích Evropské unie. Na jakém principu dané země tyto daně stanovuji, jsou zde také popsána daňová zvýhodnění pro elektromobily. V následující kapitole je vysvětlen životní cyklus vozidel včetně environmentálních dopadů vybraných typů vozidel. V závěrečné, čtvrté části práce, jsou uvedeny vazby zdanění vozidel na jejich environmentální stopu. Environmentální stopy vozidel jsou oceněny podle vybrané metodiky. V této kapitole je také provedena komparace zdanění obou typů vozidel.

Abstract:

The main goal of this diploma thesis is to find and evaluate the environmental traces of different types of vehicles and the comparison of their taxation. The first part of the thesis deals with the characteristics of ecological taxes, their classification, European legislation in the field of transport and taxation of motor vehicles. The second part is devoted to the taxation of vehicles in the countries of the European Union and the way how these countries set taxes. There are also described tax incentives for electric cars. The following chapter explains the life cycle of vehicles including the environmental impacts of selected vehicle types. In the final, fourth part of the thesis, there are the links between taxing vehicles on their environmental footprint. The environmental footprints of vehicles are valued according to the selected methodology. This chapter also compares the taxation of both types of vehicles.
