Impacts of stabilization of the banking sector to the public finances

Abstract:

Tématem této práce je zhodnocení dopadů stabilizace bankovního sektoru na veřejné finance. V první části se práce zaměřuje na obecnou charakteristiku finančních krizí a poté je zmíněno několik případů finančních krizí od počátku 19. století do současnosti. V další části práce jsou popsány obecné přístupy k řešení problematických aktiv v bilancích bank. Tyto obecné přístupy jsou poté převedeny do praxe, kde jsou vysvětleny na ekonomikách Evropské unie a Ameriky. Klíčově vybrané státy jsou poté popsány z hlediska obecného vývoje ekonomiky, reálně poskytnutých záchranných programů, objemu pomoci a dopadů na ekonomické ukazatele a veřejné finance. Poslední kapitola je pak věnována zhodnocení amerického a evropského typu záchranných programů, kde jsou porovnány čtyři vybrané státy Evropské unie a Ameriky. Výsledkem je poté výběr jednoho typu programu, který vyšel lépe jak z hlediska dopadu na veřejné finance tak i z hlediska celkového ozdravení bankovního sektoru.

Abstract:

The theme of this thesis is to evaluate the effects of the stabilization of the banking sector to the public finances. The first part focuses on the general characteristics of the financial crisis and then mentioned several cases of financial crises since the early 19th century to the present. The next part describes the basic approaches to solving problematic assets in banks' balance sheets. These basic approaches are then transferred into practice, which are explained on the economies of the European Union and America. Crucially selected countries are then described in terms of the general trend of the economy, actually provided rescue programs, aid volumes and the impact of the economic indicators and public finances. The last chapter is dedicated to the appreciation of the american and european rescue programs, which compares the four selected countries of the European Union and America. The result is then a choice of one type of program, which came out better in terms of the impact on public finances and in terms of the overall health of the banking sector.
