The Classification of Italian Dialects (from Dante to Pellegrini)

Abstract:

This work deals with the progress of classification of italian dialects, from Dante by the year 1977, and their mutual comparison. It takes in the Dante’s writing De vulgari eloquentia, that deals with this matter as the first in the history ever. Furthemore are included the origins of italian dialectology and its founder Graziadio Isaia Ascoli. He reports his classification already at the academic level. Mentioned is also the group of linguists referred to as „I Praescoliani“ who worked at the time before Ascoli. The period when italian dialectology was already considered as a science is here represented by Gerhard Rohlfs and G. Battista Pellegrini. For better lucidity the work is completed with the maps of single classifications.

Abstract:

Práce pojednává o vývoji klasifikace italských dilalektů,od Danta po rok 1977, které následně porovnává. Zahrnuje Dantův spis De vulgari eloquentia, ktrerý pojednává, jako první v historii vůbec, o tomto tématu. Dále se práce zabývá počátky italské dialektologie a jejím zakladatelem, kterým byl Graziadio Isaia Ascoli. Ten podává svoji klasifikaci již na vědecké úrovni. Zmiňována je také skupina lingvistů označovaných jako „I Preascoliani“, působící v době před Ascolim. Období, kdy již byla italská dialektologie považována za vědeckou disciplínu je zde reprezentováno Gerhardem Rohlfsem a Giovanem Battistou Pellegrinim. Práce je pro větší přehlednost doplněna mapkami jednotlivých klasifikací.
