The Occupational Therapy for people with physical impairment

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá ergoterapií u osob s tělesným postižením. Cílem práce je zhodnocení zlepšení funkce jemné motoriky u osob s míšním poraněním v oblasti krční páteře vlivem ergoterapeutické intervence zaměřené na jemnou motoriku. Dalším cílem je zjistit, jak jedinci, kteří prošli intervencí, hodnotí její přínos, zda ovlivnila nejen úroveň jemné motoriky, ale také psychický stav či motivaci k dalším pokrokům. Teoretická část této práce obsahuje tři kapitoly. První kapitola se zabývá charakteristikou a rozdělením tělesných postižení, poraněním páteře a míchy a charakteristikou kvadruplegie. Následující kapitola se věnuje ergoterapii, obsahuje definici ergoterapie, její rozdělení a zařazení. Poslední kapitola se zabývá možnostmi ergoterapie u osob s kvadruplegií. Předmětem praktické části jsou případové studie čtyř klientů po poranění míchy. S klienty je prováděn diagnostický test hodnotící funkci jemné motoriky rukou a její zlepšení po pětitýdenní ergoterapeutické intervenci. Případové studie jsou prováděny také pozorováním a rozhovory během intervence. Praktická část práce hodnotí zlepšení funkce jemné motoriky klientů, přístup k intervenci, motivaci do budoucna a změny nálad způsobené intervencí.

Abstract:

The master thesis deals with Occupational Therapy of physically disabled people. The goal of this work is to evaluate the improvement of the fine motor activity function of people with spinal injury in cervical spine area influenced by Occupational Therapy intervention focused on the fine motor activity. Another goal is to find out how people who have experienced the intervention evaluate its contribution and whether the intervention has influenced their mental condition or motivation for the future. The theoretical part contains three chapters. The first chapter deals with the characteristic and classification of physical disabilities, spinal injuries and quadriplegia. The next chapter is focused on Occupational Therapy - it contains its definition and classification. The last chapter deals with possibility of the Occupational therapy of people with quadriplegia. The object of the practical part are case studies of four clients after spinal cord injury. The diagnostic test realized with clients evaluates the function of fine motor activity and the improvement of this function after Occupational Therapy. The case studies were carried out by observation of the clients and also by conversation with them. The practical part of the thesis evaluates the improvement of fine motor activity, motivation for the future and changes of the mood within the intervention.
