Administration of Cordyceps militaris to the rat's peritoneal cavity.

Abstract:

Výživový doplněk Cordyceps se využívá při léčbě ledvinových, plicních a srdečních chorob, ale také jako stimulátor imunitního systému a podpora sexuální potence. Cílem této práce bylo zjistit vliv Cordyceps na peritoneální dutinu potkana. Cordyceps byl intraperitoneálně aplikován pokusným potkanům Wistar a výsledky byly vyhodnoceny oproti kontrolní skupině s PBS. Po intraperitoneální laváži byly stanoveny absolutní a diferenciální počty buněk, pomocí světelné mikroskopie a průtokového cytomertu. Výsledky byly statisticky vyhodnoceny nepárovým t-testem. Při porovnání absolutních počtů nedošlo k významnému nárustu buněk, ale u diferenciálních počtů byly zjištěny signifikantní rozdíly. U pokusné skupiny byl zjištěn pokles v procentuálním zastoupení makrofágů a lymfocytů, což bylo zapříčiněno výrazným influxem neutrofilů do peritoneální dutiny. Po aplikaci Cordyceps došlo k iniciaci zánětlivé reakce.

Abstract:

Cordyceps nutritional supplement is used to the treatment of kidney, lung and heart diseases, but also as a stimulator of the immune system and support of sexual potency. The aim of this work was to determine the effect of Cordyceps on the peritoneal cavity of the rat. Cordyceps was administered intraperitoneally to Wistar rats and the results were evaluated against a PBS control group. After intraperitoneal lavage, absolute and differential cell counts were determined by light microscopy and flow cytometer. The results were statistically evaluated by unpaired t-test. In the process of comparing the absolute cell numbers were not fount significant increase in cells, but significant differences were found in the differential numbers. In the experimental group were found decrease in the percentage of macrophages and lymphocytes, which was caused by a significant influx of neutrophils into the peritoneal cavity. The inflammatory response was initiated after administration of Cordyceps.
