Czechs and Russians in intercultural perspective

Abstract:

The choice of the topic "Czechs and Russians in intercultural perspective" is primarily due to the desire to get an idea of what the Czech-Russian intercultural dialogue looks like today. The main goal of this work is to understand how representatives of Russian emigrants who in the Czech Republic have long perceived the Czech and Czech culture, as well as to identify the most significant cultural differences affecting the process of intercultural communication. In addition, considerable interest is represented by how living in a country with different culture influenced the worldview of Russians. The theoretical part is devoted to intercultural communication. It describes the stages of its formation as an independent discipline. Then follows a brief excursion into the history of Czech-Russian relations from the twentieth century to the current situation. The basis for writing this work was a study conducted in the Czech Republic from September 2016 to January 2017. The theoretical basis of this work is the typology of cultural change, developed by Geert Hofstede in the 1980s and is still actual. In addition to cultural differences, we also considered existing stereotypes, which largely affect the perception of people by representatives of another culture. In conclusion, the results obtained during data analysis are describe.

Abstract:

Práce si klade za cíl rozkrýt specifiku česko-ruských interkulturních kontaktů a identifikovat potenciální oblasti kulturně podmíněných nedorozumění, ke kterým může docházet mezi příslušníky těchto dvou národů. Na základě analýzy konkrétních příkladů bude věnována pozornost nejtypičtějším rozdílům v česko-ruské interakci, přičemž zvláštní důraz bude orientován na způsob jejich intersubjektivnímu vnímání ze strany příslušníků ruské komunity (občané Ruské Federace), kteří dlouhodobě žijí na území České Republiky. Data budou shromažďována zejména prostřednictvím přímého kontaktu s představiteli dané pospolitosti a dále metodou biografických a polostrukturovaných rozhovorů. Využity budou také četné internetové zdroje a sekundární literatura k tématu aktuálních česko-ruských vztahů. Z formálního hlediska bude práce rozvržena do dvou hlavních částí. V první bude pozornost zaměřena na teoretické pozadí interetnického a interkulturního studia v antropologii a etnologii, druhá bude spočívat na analýze empirických dat z česko-ruského prostředí.
