Novels of Karel Nový The Blue Car, Money and At the Crossroads

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou čtyř literárních kategorií ve vybraných románech Karla Nového. Konkrétně se jedná o díla Modrý vůz (1930), Peníze (1931) a Na rozcestí (1934). V úvodní kapitole je nastíněn život a dílo Karla Nového s přihlédnutím ke společensko-historickému kontextu. Následující teoretická část práce se zaměřuje na charakteristiku literárního prostoru a času. Stěžejní část práce tvoří aplikace teoretických poznatků na konkrétní romány. V závěru práce je obsaženo shrnutí získaných poznatků, komparace zmíněných děl a připomenuty budou rovněž dobové ohlasy rozebíraných románů.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the analysis of four literary categories in selected novels by Karel Nový. Specifically, the works are Modrý vůz (1930), Peníze (1931) and Na rozcestí (1934). The introductory chapter outlines the life and work of Karel Nový, taking into account the socio-historical context. The following theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the characteristics of literary space and time. The application of the theoretical findings to specific novels forms the central part of the thesis. The thesis concludes with a summary of the knowledge gained, a comparison of the works in question, and a reminder of the contemporary responses to the novels under discussion.
