Understanding Schizophrenia in general population

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu stigmatizace osob se schizofrenií z řad obecné populace. V teoretické části práce se pojednává o současných znalostech v oblasti schizofrenie, včetně symptomatologie. Dále se práce zabývá komplexním popisem stigmatu, které je spojováno s touto duševní poruchou, jeho dopady na životy postižených a mýty o schizofrenii, které existují mezi lidmi bez odborného vzdělání. Práce se také věnuje snahám o odstranění stigmat o schizofrenii, a v neposlední řadě popisuje vztah médií a stigmatizace. Výzkumná část práce se zabývá představami obecné populace o projevech schizofrenie. Je podrobně zkoumán způsob stigmatizace a její jednotlivé složky, na základě kterých lze jednotlivé osoby dělit do skupin. Zkoumán byl též vliv filmů na stigmatizaci. Byly zjišťovány vlivy demografických faktorů, jako pohlaví, věk nebo nejvyšší dosažené vzdělání.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of stigmatization of people with schizophrenia from among the general population. The theoretical part of the work discusses current knowledge in the field of schizophrenia, including symptomatology. Furthermore, the work deals with a comprehensive description of the stigma that is associated with this mental disorder, its effects on the lives of the affected and the myths about schizophrenia that exist among people without professional education. The thesis also deals with efforts to remove stigmas about schizophrenia, and last but not least, it describes the relationship between the media and stigmatization. The research part of the work deals with the ideas of the general population about the manifestations of schizophrenia. The method of stigmatization and its individual components, on the basis of which individuals can be divided into groups, are examined in detail. The influence of films on stigmatization was also investigated. The effects of demographic factors, such as gender, age or highest level of education, were investigated.
