Factors influencing the incidence of mastitis in dairy cattle

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na faktory, které ovlivňují výskyt mastitid v chovech dojného skotu. V literární rešerši jsem popsala mléčnou žlázu, její vývoj a stavbu a sekreci mléka. Rozebrala jsem projevy a původce mastitid, diagnostiku mastitidy a její terapii. V hlavní části bakalářské práce jsem se zaměřila na popis faktorů ovlivňující výskyt mastitid. Mezi hlavní faktory patří hygiena stáje a správná hygiena při dojení. Na závěr literární rešerše jsem sepsala ekonomické a produkční ztráty, které vznikají při onemocnění. V praktické části jsem pozorovala výskyt mastitid v chovu dojného skotu. Vyhodnocovala jsem, jaké patogeny nejčastěji mastitidu způsobují, jakým způsobem byl zánět zjištěn a jaké měly mastitidy dopad v ekonomice. Nejvíce se v chovu vyskytovaly environmentální patogeny. Za sledované období cca 11 měsíců se ve stádě objevilo 93 zánětů. Ekonomické ztráty podniku činily 179.662,69 Kč, a to částka jen za léčebné výlohy a mléko, které obsahovalo antibiotika a nesmělo být prodáno.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the factors that influence the incidence of mastitis in dairy cattle. In the literature review, I described the mammary gland, its development and structure, and milk secretion. I have discussed the manifestations and causative agents of mastitis, the diagnosis of mastitis and its therapy. In the main part of the bachelor thesis, I focused on the description of factors influencing the occurrence of mastitis. The main factors include stall hygiene and proper hygiene during milking. At the end of the literature search, I wrote down the economic and production losses that occur induced by the disease. In the practical part, I observed the incidence of mastitis in dairy cattle farming. I evaluated what pathogens most commonly cause mastitis, how the inflammation was detected and what impact mastitis had on the economy. Environmental pathogens were the most prevalent pathogens on the farm. Over the study period of approximately 11 months, 93 mastitis cases occurred in the herd. The economic losses of the holding reached CZK 179,662.69, which was only for medical expenses and milk that contained antibiotics and could not be sold.
