Factors affecting school to work transitions of university graduates

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou přechodu absolventů vysokých škol ze vzdělávání na pracovní trh. Cílem je identifikovat a specifikovat faktory, které tyto přechody ovlivňují. Hlavní výzkumná otázka, na kterou se snaží diplomová práce nalézt odpověď, zní: „Jaké faktory ovlivňují přechod absolventů vysokých škol ze školy na trh práce?“ Diplomová práce se skládá ze tří částí. Teoretická část definuje klíčové pojmy, týkající se obecných charakteristik přechodů, tranzitivních politik a jejich konkrétním promítnutí do situace v evropských státech a faktorů, které na tyto přechody mohou mít vliv. Navazující metodologická část definuje dílčí výzkumné otázky, popisuje zvolenou kvalitativní výzkumnou strategii, výběr technik sběru dat, jednotky zkoumání a zjišťovaní a limity výzkumu. Výsledky výzkumu jsou pak prezentovány v empirické části, v rámci které jsou interpretována data, zjištěná z polostandardizovaných rozhovorů s respondenty v rámci konkrétního lokálního trhu práce, kteří se vyjádřili k průběhu přechodu ze školy na trh práce a faktorům, které dle jejich názoru tyto přechody nejvíce ovlivňují. Z výsledků výzkumu bylo zjištěno, že v souvislosti s daným regionem přechod absolventů vysokých škol na trh práce nejvíce ovlivňují regionální charakteristiky trhu práce, praxe a získané pracovní zkušenosti a v neposlední řadě vzdělání. Na základě výzkumných zjištění je v závěrečné části práce navrženo doporučení pro řešení stávající situace.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with deals with the transition of graduates from education to the labor market. The aim is to identify and specify the factors that affecting these transitions. The main research question which diploma thesis is trying to find the answer is: " Which factors affect the transitions of university graduates to the labor market?" The thesis consists of three parts. The theoretical part defines key terms related to the general characteristics of the transition, transition policies and their reflection in the situation in European countries and the factors that can influence these transitions. In the methodological part are defined the individual research questions, then there is described a qualitative research strategy, data collection technique, detection and investigation units and possible limitations of research. The research results are presented in the empirical part where are interpreted data from semi-standardized interviews with respondents from the specific local labour market, who commented proces of their school to work transitions and factors that in their opinion affecting the situation mostly. Research has shown that in relation to the region is their situation most affected by regional labour market characteristics, gained work experience and education. In the conclusion part there is suggest recommendations for solving the current situation based on the research findings.
