Evaluation of trade of tropical and subtropical timber species in relation to forest certification and chain of custody certification

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na popis certifikačních systémů v oblastech tropů a subtropů a popis obchodu s dřevními produkty v letech 2014-2016. V první části jsou popsány Biomy v probíraných oblastech. Následuje popis organizace ITTO, která se věnuje obchodu s tropickým dřívím. Dále jsou vypsány dva systémy kategorizace ohrožení dřevin a tabulky s nejtěženějšími dřevinami v současné době, kde je uveden jak obchodní, tak latinský název dřevin a popis jejich ohroženosti. Následuje popis vzniku certifikace, jejich funkce a hlavní certifikační systémy ve světě. Je zde mimo jiné tabulka producentských států ITTO a certifikační systémy nacházející se v daných zemí. Dále je popsána metodika psaní této práce. Poté následuje kapitola výsledky, kde je popsán vývoj producentských zemí a obchod s primárními a také se sekundárními dřevními produkty. Následuje model certifikace a závěr.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on description of certification systems in tropical and subtropical areas and description of the trade of wood products in 2014-2016. The first part describes Biomes in the discussed areas. Followed by description of ITTO organization – which focused on tropical timber trade. Next goes description of two main threat categorizations schemes and two lists of most logged timber species, with both commercial and latin names and description of their threats. Follows description of the major certification systems in the world. Among other things , there is a table o ITTO producer countries and their certification systems. Further is located the metodology about writing this thesis. Next is chapter with results, it describes the development of producer countries and trade with primary and secondary wood products. This is followed by the certification model and the conclusion.
