Quality of life of patiens after total laryngectomy

Abstract:

Pacienti s nádory hrtanu po operaci totální laryngektomii jsou výrazně omezeni v osobním životě, v komunikačních schopnostech, pracovní aktivitě, mají výrazný hendikep, jsou trvalými nosiči tracheotomické kanyly. Průzkum hodnocení kvality života pacienta po operaci totální laryngektomii byl proveden ve Fakultní nemocnici v Ostravě, na otorinolaryngologické klinice, hodnotili jsme 50 respondentů standardizovaným dotazníkem a srovnávali jsme tyto respondenty podle pohlaví, věku, vzdělání a rodinného zázemí. Šetření proběhlo v období od prosince 2012 do února 2013. Průzkum byl proveden formou standardizovaného dotazníku WHOQOL-BREF , který obsahuje 26 otázek, s doménami fyzického zdraví, prostředí, sociálních vztahů a prožívání. Hodnocením dotazníku bylo zjištěno, že nejlépe posuzují kvalitu života ženy, respondenti s maturitním vzděláním a ti, kteří žijí s partnerem a mají oporu v osobě blízké. Pro praxi je důležité proto věnovat mimořádnou pozornost rodinnému zázemí pacientů, blízkých přátel a možnostem využití seznámení se prostřednictvím sdružení laryngektomovaných.

Abstract:

Patients with laryngeal tumours after total laryngectomy are significantly restricted in their personal lives, in communication skills, work activity; they have a significant handicap and are permanent carriers of tracheotomic cannula. The survey of quality assessment of the patients' lives after total laryngectomy was performed at the Faculty Hospital in Ostrava, at the otorhinolaryngologic clinic; we evaluated 50 respondents by means of a standardized questionnaire and compared these respondents by gender, age, education and family background. The survey was carried out from December 2012 to February 2013. The survey was performed by using a standardized questionnaire WHOQOL-BREF, which contains 26, questions including the domains of physical health, environment, social relations, and experience. By means of evaluation of the questionnaire, it was found out that the best assessment of quality of life was provided by women, respondents who graduated from secondary school, and those who live with a partner and are supported by a close person. For the practice, it is therefore important to pay special attention to the patients' family background, close friends and possibilities of meeting other people via the association of people after laryngectomy.
