Woodcut and engraved models in czech late gothic art

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se snaží sledovat používání grafických předloh v českém pozdně gotickém umění. Uplatňování volných grafických listů umělci jako předlohy se stalo v druhé polovině 15. století důležitým fenoménem napříč Evropou. Rozpoznání grafické předlohy v díle může mít vliv na datování díla, způsob práce s předlohou zase může upřesňovat dílenské vztahy. Používání grafických předloh nesouvisí přímo s kvalitou díla či umělce ani není vázáno pouze na periferní oblasti. Práce se zabývá grafickými listy mistra E.S., Martina Schongauera a jeho okruhu a Albrechta Dürera. V práci uváděná díla pocházejí z doby od 60. let 15. století do 40.let století následujícího.

Abstract:

The thesis observes using of woodcut and engraved models in czech late gothic art. Using of woodcuts and engravings by artist as a model for their work became in the second half of the 15th century an important phenomenon in the whole Europe. Recognising using of a graphic model can influence a dating of work. Way of using model can make clearer relationships between artists. The relationship between using of graphic models and the quality of an artwork or an artist is not self-evident. Likewise, using of models is not limitated only on peripheral areas. The thesis deals works of master E.S., Martin Schongauer and his followers and Albrecht Dürer. In the thesis mentioned works of art are from the 1460´ to 1540´.
