Cultural-historical aspects of spiritualists activities in Austrian Silesia before the Second World War

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Kulturněhistorické aspekty působení spiritistů v Rakouském Slezsku před druhou světovou válkou mapuje činnost hnutí, které své ideové a kulturní působení vnímalo jako projev ?syntézy vědy a náboženství?. V českých zemích, a zejména v oblasti Rakouského a později českého Slezska, se spiritistické hnutí nebývale rozšířilo a vzniklo zde množství nejrůznějších skupin jejich činnosti si text všímá. Diplomová práce popisuje působení spiritistů ve Slezsku zejména ve vztahu k jejich kulturnímu přínosu, jímž se zapsali do historie regionu. Práce také neopomíjí významné osobnosti, které spiritistické hnutí vytvářely nebo formovaly.

Abstract:

The Master?s thesis Cultural and historical aspects of activities of spiritists in Austrian Silesia before the Second World War maps a movement that considered itself as a ?synthesis of science and religion?. This movement spread in Czech lands, in particular in Austrian and later Czech Silesia, and with it many peculiar spiritist groups came to existence. This master?s thesis describes activities of spiritists in Silesia. The emphasis is on their cultural contribution to the history of the region. The work also introduces people important for the creation and evolution of the spiritistic movement.
