The needs of a patient with an oncological disease in palliative care

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem této bakalářské práce je popsat potřeby pacienta s onkologickým onemocněním, u něhož se poskytuje paliativní péče. Praktická část je psána formou kazuistiky. Potřeby pacienta a jeho subjektivní prožívání nemoci je popsáno od začátku onemocnění až po současný stav. Metodika: Praktická část je vypracována jako případová studie. Jedná se o nemocnou, trpící spinocelulárním karcinomem plic, u níž se uplatňuje paliativní péče v hospici. V praktické části je onemocnění popsáno od samotného vzniku, popsána je recidiva onemocnění, v niž je uplatňována paliativní chemoterapie a následně je popsán život pacientky v hospici. Výsledky: Pomocí kazuistiky je možné pozorovat prožívání nádorového onemocnění. Prvotní šok, smlouvání, deprese a konečné smíření se s nemocí i komplexní paliativní péče v hospici. Pozorovat je možné i jednotlivé potřeby nemocné v různých fázích onemocnění. Závěr: V této práci je zaznamenán celý koncept paliativní péče. Důraz je kladen i na spolupráci s rodinou a na respektování hodnot a potřeb nemocných. Pro pacienta může být mnohdy více uspokojující, když jsou u něj aplikovány principy paliativní péče, oproti vyčerpávající onkologické léčbě.

Abstract:

Objective: The objective of this bachelor thesis is to describe the needs of a patient with cancer in whom palliative care is provided. The practical part is written in the form of a case study. The needs of the patient and his subjective experience of the disease are described from the beginning of the disease to the current state. Methodology: The practical part is developed as a case study. This is a patient suffering from squamous cell lung cancer who receives palliative care in a hospice. In a practical part, the disease is described from the very beginning, the recurrent of disease is described, in which palliative chemotherapy is already applied and then the life of the patient in the hospice is described. Results: The experience of cancer can be seen in the whole case report. Initial shock, bargaining, depression and final reconciliation with the disease of comprehensive palliative care in a hospice. Ti is also possible to observe the individual needs of the patient. Conclusion: In this work we can see the whole concept of palliative care. Emphasis is also placed on cooperation with e family and on respecting the values and need of patients. We can also see report that the patient can often be more satisfied when the principles of palliative care are applied to him than exhaustive oncological treatment.
