Abstract:

Diplomová práce s názvem „Odpočívej v pokoji. Vztah Čechů k zemřelým a vizualita hřbitovů“ se zabývá vlivem sekularizace na vztah české společnosti ke smrti a k zemřelým a jak je tento vztah viditelný na podobě hřbitovů. V teoretické části autorka předkládá základní charakteristiky vzájemného vztahu společnosti, která musí smrt určitým způsobem legitimizovat, náboženství, které v tomto procesu hraje významnou roli a samotné smrti. Zásadní vliv na současný (odtažitý) vztah západoevropské společnosti ke smrti měla sekularizace, která ovlivnila také změny v pohřební praxi, které se zpětně promítly i do podoby hřbitova. Práce je založena na dvou případových studiích, které popisují a srovnávají hřbitovy v nejméně a nejvíce religiózní oblasti v České republice. Tyto oblasti ve výzkumu reprezentují města Litvínov a Uherské Hradiště. Zvolená města představují jakýsi náboženský protipól a proto na nich lze dobře pozorovat rozdílný vliv sekularizace na vizualitu hřbitovů, která odráží postoje tamních lidí ke smrti a k mrtvým. Podoby hřbitovů autorka analyzovala na základě pořízených fotografií, které zaujímají v celé práci významné místo především z dokumentačního hlediska. Nalezené rozdíly, popsané v analytické části práce, autorka interpretovala v kontextu teorií, konceptů a přístupů představených v teoretické části.

Abstract:

This thesis “Rest in peace. A relationship of the Czechs to the deceased and visuality of cemeteries” is about the influence of secularization on the relationship between Czech society and death and how this relationship is visible in the image of cemeteries. In the theoretic part, author describes the basic characteristics of the relationship between society, which has to legitimize death, religion, which is the main factor in the process of legitimization of death, and death itself. Secularization had a fundamental influence on the contemporary (impersonal) relation of West European society to death and affected the funeral changes as well. These changes can be visible in image of cemeteries. This thesis is based on two case studies describing and comparing two cemeteries in the most and the least religious region in the Czech Republic which are Uherské Hradiště and Litvínov. By comparing these two cemeteries, the different influence of secularization can be seen in the visuality of cemeteries as well as in people’s attitudes toward to death and the deceased. Images of cemeteries were compared on the basis of author’s photographies. Founded differences are interpreted through theories and concepts presented in the theoretic part of the thesis.
