Special formulas for numerical integration.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with quadrature formulas as a basic tool of numerical integration methods. It provides a description of elementary Newton-Cotes quadrature formulas. These formulas allow elegant integral approximation and play substantial role in more complicated methods. The third chapter deals with Bernoulli polynomials and numbers from which well-known and useful Euler-Maclaurin summation formula is derived in the following chapter. By using this formula, Romberg introduced an effective method of numerical quadrature described in more detail in the fifth chapter. At the end of this thesis the adaptive formula based on Simpson's rule is discussed.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se věnuje kvadraturním formulím jako základnímu nástroji metod numerické integrace. V práci jsou uvedeny elementární Newtonovy-Cotesovy kvadraturní formule, které umožňují elegantní aproximaci integrálu a hrají podstatnou roli ve složitějších metodách. Ve třetí kapitole jsou rozebírány Bernoulliovy polynomy a Bernoulliova čísla, na základě kterých je v následující kapitole odvozen známý a užitečný Eulerův-Maclaurinův sumační vzorec. Využitím tohoto vzorce vznikla efektivní Rombergova metoda numerické integrace, detailně popsána v páté kapitole. Práce se věnuje také adaptivním formulím, konkrétně popisuje adaptivní formuli založenou na Simpsonově pravidle.
