This bachelor's thesis deals with Kate Chopin's novel The Awakening, focusing on the historical and social context of the late nineteenth century, particularly social norms and expectations of women. The analysis focuses on the three main female characters, Mademoiselle Reisz, Madame Adéle Ratignolle, and Edna Pontellier.
