Identifying the needs of Ukrainian refugees

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá zjišťováním potřeb válečných uprchlíků z Ukrajiny a následně zkoumáním bariér v oblasti pomoci těmto lidem. Je důležité se tímto tématem zabývat, protože kvůli konfliktu na Ukrajině se zvýšil počet uprchlíků v České republice a tak se zvýšil počet osob, kterým je potřeba poskytnout pomoc a podporu. Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na zkoumání potřeb a bariér pomoci uprchlíkům, s využitím kvalitativních polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se sociálními pracovníky a uprchlíky. Ačkoli obecná aplikace zjištěných údajů může být omezená, práce doplňuje reprezentativní výzkumy odborníků, které jsou využity v teoretické části. Z výzkumu vyplynulo, že nejpalčivější potřeba je pro každého informanta jiná a liší se na základě toho, zda chce v Ústí nad Labem zůstat (osvojení českého jazyka) nebo se chce vrátit na Ukrajinu (zajištění finančních prostředků). Největší bariérou pomoci je odlišný mateřský jazyk.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis deals with identifying the needs of war refugees from Ukraine and subsequently examining the barriers in the field of helping these people. It is important to deal with this topic, because due to the conflict in Ukraine, the number of refugees in the Czech Republic has increased, and thus the number of people who need help and support has increased. The bachelor's thesis focuses on the investigation of the needs and barriers to help refugees, using qualitative semi-structured interviews with social workers and refugees. Although the general application of the obtained data may be limited, the work complements the representative researches of experts, which are used in the theoretical part. The research showed that the most pressing need is different for each informant and differs based on whether they want to stay in Ústí nad Labem (acquiring the Czech language) or return to Ukraine (providing financial resources). The biggest barrier to help is a different mother tongue.
