Works of N. Taleb Black Swan, Antifragile and Moral Hazard in Economy

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na problematiku predikce budoucích stavů v ekonomice. Také je pohlédnuto na možnost vyžití fraktálů při predikcích. Cílem této práce je seznámit s možnými klamy a problémy, které nastávají při předvídání a praktickém počítání budoucích stavů a zhodnotit, zda by využití fraktálů mohlo být pro ekonomický sektor přínosné. Předmětem teoretické části je uvedení pojmů „Černá labuť“ a „antifragilita“ a popsání kamenů úrazu, na které lidé naráží, když se snaží predikovat, včetně možných následků chybných predikcí. Následně je provedena analýza několika prací, které využívají fraktály v ekonomice s cílem určit, zda je využití takových modelů vhodné a výhodné pro aplikaci na reálná data z ekonomiky a jejich predikci. V závěru je vyhodnoceno, že by hypotéza fraktálního trhu mohla dobře popisovat chování trhů obzvlášť v krizových stavech a pomáhat úspěšně předvídat budoucí stavy.

Abstract:

The purpose if the bachelor thesis is focused on predictions of future states in economy. It also evaluates possible usage of fractals for predictions. Objective of this thesis is to inform about possible delusions and problems which occur during prediction process and during practical calculation of future states, as well as to evaluate whether usage of fractals could be beneficial for economic sector. The subject of the theoretical part is the introduction of terms „Black Swan“ and „Antifragility“ and description of issues that people encounter when they try to predict future, including possible consequences of erroneous predictions. Following part analyses several researches that use fractals in economy in order to determine whether use of such model is appropriate and advantageous for applications to real economic data and for their prediction. In the conclusion, it is evaluated that Fractal Market Hypothesis could describe market behavior well, especially in crisis situations, and could help successfully predict future states.
