Getting accurate light ephemerides of exoplanetary candidates

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se věnujeme pozorování osmi exoplanetárních kandidátů identifikovaných družicí TESS s cílem zpřesnit jejich světelné elementy. Vlastní pozorování probíhalo od podzimu 2019 do jara 2020 na různých observatořích za pomoci několika pozorovatelů. Ze získaných dat byly sestrojeny světelné křivky, které byly následně pomocí tří různých fitovacích programů proloženy křivkou odpovídající tranzitu exoplanety. Díky těmto fitům jsme zjistili pozorované okamžiky středů tranzitů, které jsme poté porovnali s okamžiky předpovězenými. Data v O-C diagramu jsme aproximovali lineárním fitem, z jehož směrnice bylo možné vypočítat potřebnou opravu periody daného exoplanetárního kandidáta. Ze čtrnácti odpozorovaných nocí byl pokles jasnosti zachycen v pěti případech. U čtyř kandidátů jsme nezaznamenali žádný pokles, na vině mohla být nekvalitní data, nevhodné počasí nebo špatné světelné elementy a z nich plynoucí nepřesná předpověď. Hlavním výsledkem práce jsou aktuální opravené periody tří kandidátů TOI 1169.01, 550.01 a 961.01, které se od původních period lišily o 14 s, 14,9 s a 16 s. Na závěr je diskutována exoplanetární podstata pozorovaných kandidátů, přičemž někteří z nich by mohli být dvojhvězdy.

Abstract:

In this thesis, we focus on the observation of eight exoplanetary candidates identified in the data obtained by the TESS satellite in order to refine their light ephemerides. The observation was performed from autumn 2019 to spring 2020 at various observatories with the help of several observers. From the obtained data, light curves were constructed, which were afterwards fitted with a curve corresponding to a transit of an exoplanet using three different software packages. From these fits, we determined the observed moments of the centers of transits, which we then compared with the predicted moments. From the linear fit of the O-C diagram, we got the correction of the period from the slope of the fit. Out of the fourteen observed nights, a decrease in brightness was detected in five cases. For four candidates, no decrease was detected. The non-detection could be due to poor data, weather conditions or incorect light elements and the resulting inaccurate prediction of the transit. The main results of this thesis are the corrected periods of the three TOI candidates 1169.01, 550.01 and 961.01, which differed from the original periods by 14 s, 14.9 s and 16 s. In the end, the~exoplanetary nature of the observed candidates is discussed, with the possibility of some being binary stars.
