Effective performance appraisal systems and employee motivation

Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to find the effect of performance appraisals on employee motivation, and it influences the output of employees and the potential outcome on the selected IT firm. This study combines data from two sources: in-depth interviews with management and surveys completed by general employees within the company. The re-searcher carefully analyzed the responses, organizing them into categories to identify central themes related to the research questions. The results demonstrated a clear link between performance appraisals, employee motivation, and a company's overall productivity. Further analysis highlighted the interplay of intrinsic (internal) motivation with extrinsic (external) motivators, primarily incentives. Additionally, the study emphasized the importance of employees feeling that performance appraisals are conducted fairly and objectively in order to maximize their motivational impact. Given these findings, the study recommends that IT organizations prioritize improving their appraisal systems to foster greater employee motivation, ultimately aiming to boost productivity.
