Chitosan, a derivative of the natural polysaccharide chitin, is nowadays more and more frequently used as a hemostatic material, for its ability to accelerate the coagulation cascade. In order to effectively control the external hemorrhage, chitosan in its natural powder-like form needs to be processed to a more appropriate form.
